THE AGREEMENT

Terms of Use.

The rules that keep MovieMate useful, fair and safe for everyone discovering and sharing movies.

Effective 3 November 2026 · Version 2026-11-03

1. Agreement

These Terms of Use form an agreement between you and MovieMate, operated by Prabhjot Singh. By creating an account, accepting these terms, or using the MovieMate app or website, you agree to these terms and acknowledge the Privacy Policy.

You must be legally able to enter this agreement. If local law requires permission from a parent or guardian, you must have that permission before using MovieMate. MovieMate is not directed to children under 13.

2. The service

MovieMate helps people discover movies, create and share playlists, save liked movies, compare choices, connect with friends, and receive recommendations. Features, catalogue entries, availability information and external services may change or become unavailable.

MovieMate does not sell tickets or provide a streaming service. Streaming availability is informational and can vary by region and over time.

3. Accounts

Keep your account details secure and provide accurate information. You are responsible for activity performed through your account. You may delete your account and associated MovieMate data from Settings in the app.

MovieMate may restrict or suspend access that is abusive, unlawful, fraudulent, harmful to other people, or interferes with the service.

4. Playlists and community features

Playlist titles and shared playlists may be visible to friends or other signed-in users according to the sharing feature you choose. An unlisted web link can be viewed by anyone who receives it. Do not submit unlawful, abusive, misleading, infringing or private information that you do not have permission to share.

You keep ownership of text you create. You give MovieMate a limited, worldwide licence to host, display and transmit that content only as needed to operate and share the service. You may end this licence by deleting the relevant content or your account, subject to reasonable backup expiry.

5. Third-party content and services

Movie data and artwork are supplied by TMDB. Watch-provider information is powered by JustWatch. Trailers are played through YouTube. Authentication, storage, notifications and server features use Firebase and Google Cloud. AI recommendations may use Google Gemini with a limited movie taste profile.

By using MovieMate features that display or play YouTube content, you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service. Third-party services apply their own terms and privacy policies. MovieMate does not control their availability, accuracy or content.

6. Acceptable use

Do not misuse MovieMate, attempt unauthorised access, scrape or copy its catalogue in bulk, bypass security or usage limits, manipulate community results, impersonate another person, upload malicious material, harass other users, or use the service to violate another person’s rights.

7. Intellectual property

MovieMate’s app design, code, branding and original material are protected by applicable law. Movie, person, provider and trailer material belongs to its respective owners and is used through the identified third-party services.

8. Availability and liability

MovieMate is provided on an as-available basis. To the extent permitted by law, MovieMate does not promise that all information is complete, current or error-free and is not responsible for decisions made solely from catalogue, rating or availability information.

Nothing in these terms excludes rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded, including applicable Australian consumer guarantees.

9. Changes and ending use

MovieMate may update these terms when the service or legal requirements materially change. A material update will be presented for acceptance before continued account use. You may stop using MovieMate and delete your account at any time.
